PGY2 Oncology

Program Description

The PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency at UW Medicine is an ASHP-accredited post graduate program, which provides twelve months of training designed to develop and refine the skills necessary to make and monitor therapeutic interventions for the safe and efficacious use of drug therapy in oncology patients.  The program provides residents with broad experiences in the areas of oncology, hematology, hematopoietic stem cell transplant, and supportive care. Residents work relatively independently as an integral member of the healthcare team under the supervision of preceptors with extensive experience in their respective practice areas. The aim of the program is to provide the specific skills and competencies to the resident that are needed to assume advance practitioner and leadership roles in oncology pharmacy practice.

UW Medicine, along with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and Seattle Children’s Hospital, form the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and NCCN member institution. The primary training sites for this residency are the University of Washington Medical Center-Montlake and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center clinics.
