Annual Program Evaluation (APE)
The AY24 Annual Program Evaluations (APEs) season begins March 2024 and are due September 30th, 2024. Please review the templates and March 16th Lunch & Learn recording below to learn more.
AY23 APE season closed on September 30th, 2023. Submissions were reviewed by the GME Office and program-specific feedback is available in MedHub. See instructions to view your program’s feedback.
Annually, the GME Office reviews program requirements, the ACGME provided template and feedback from the previous APE cycle to create an updated template for the APE Meeting Summary. Programs are required (see below for specifics) to use the template as we hope this will streamline your APE process and create better analysis and alignment over time between programs, within departments, and at the institutional level.
- New ACGME programs in their first year are advised to complete items 1-4, 7, and 10, 11, 13, 14 on the APE Meeting Summary template and do not need to submit an Action Plan.
- Programs undergoing an ACGME Self-Study do not need to complete an APE within the same academic year. Instead, programs will be required to upload their Self-Study Summary document in lieu of the APE, and to respond to the clinical leaning environment related questions.
- All other programs must complete the APE as outlined in the Annual Program Evaluation Policy.

Self-Study
The ACGME announced changes to the Self-Study and 10-Year Accreditation Site Visit process. The program Self-Study has been decoupled from Site Visits and the 10-Year Accreditation Site Visits have been cancelled. Self-Study and all 10-Year Accreditation Site Visit dates were removed from ADS and won’t be assigned until further notice while the ACGME determines a sustainable model for improvement. Review FAQs about these changes.
