Resident Academic Support Plan

We are working to increase transparency in how we support your growth and development as a pediatrician. As a part of this we are increasing Direct Observations and feedback for all residents. We will be using the following methods.

  • Direct Observation on rounds by the river chief and or Pod chief/coach
  • Direct Observation on rounds/afternoon flow by coaching APD/PD
  • Direct Peer Observation by co-residents on teaching elective

Our hope is to improve the quality and quantity of both assessment and feedback. As a reminder Individual learning plans (ILP) are required and updated annually. The expectation is for your Pod coach to review your ILP and progress semi-annually.

For those who might require additional support we have outlined the process in the attached document. This document will help you understand the process. Additionally, we know your clinical work is impacted by your personal mental health. Please reach out to your pod chief, or chief on call, if you have concerns about a co-resident or yourself.
