This course is a continuation of ENGR 231: Introduction to Technical Communication and will satisfy both your additional writing requirement as well as an Upper Division Engineering & Science Elective.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Communicating technical information clearly and efficiently is central to the work of professional engineers. Employers and clients expect engineers to have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse workplace. ENGR 333 offers students practical skills in the day-to-day communication they’ll do on the job as well as an advanced exploration of the rhetorical situations common in professional communication, including preparing persuasive documents and presentations for both primary and secondary audiences. WAPA Scholarships for Undergrads

For Juniors and Seniors

The Washington Asphalt Pavement Association will fund approximately 25 scholarships for UW CEE this AY. Typically each scholarship is worth $1,000. If you wish to apply, do the following: (1) complete the application form below, (2) prepare a one page personal statement and (3) save as one combined pdf file. Submit the pdf file to OneDrive https://1drv.ms/u/s!AmI5DF-SyFmvi6509ZXyUI1YAmFgxA?e=IMbhYi by February 15, 2020.

The scholarships are administered under the guidelines of the National Asphalt Pavement Association Research and Education Foundation and their guidelines are:

  • The scholarship program provides funding for undergraduate students who are US citizens and enrolled in a full-time civil engineering curriculum at an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Financial need will not be considered and scholarship awards are renewable if you received one last AY (though not guaranteed).
  • The institution selected by the student (UW CEE) must offer, and the student must take at least one course on Hot Mix Asphalt technology (at UW, CEE 337 meets the requirement no matter when you take it–either Autumn or Spring Quarters.)

Only UW CEE juniors and seniors can apply. If you are selected, you will be notified via email. Again, your application must be completed and submitted by February 15, 2020. Continue reading
