Description: The Medical Genetics elective allows residents to rotate through many different clinics including Clinical Genetics, Biochemical Genetics, Craniofacial, Differences of Sex Development, Epilepsy Genetics, Skeletal Dysplasia, Cardiovascular Genetics, and many others. Residents will participate on inpatient consults, attend conferences, and visit the WA State Newborn Screening Laboratory. Residents will learn about various genetic and biochemical tests, the dysmorphology exam, management of genetic disorders, genetic counseling issues, the newborn screening process, and other important topics in the practice of Medical Genetics.
