Description: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) rotation is a rotation through our intensive care unit that is dedicated to infants and children with heart disease. The patients in our unit range from neonates and infants with congenital heart disease who are pre- and post-operative, older children who require congenital heart surgery, children with complex congenital heart disease who require intensive care for other medical and surgical reasons, as well as infants and children with heart failure for a variety of reasons who require inotropic support, mechanical ventilation or circulatory support, or heart transplant. We have a unique and intimate working relationship with cardiology and our CT surgery colleagues and you will be a part of our team. Residents will follow patients primarily with a PCCM fellow co-following, and will be expected to perform all the tasks of the primary bedside provider for their patients.
