Description: The sports medicine elective provides residents the opportunity to enhance knowledge in primary care sports medicine and musculoskeletal care. Residents will have the opportunity to work with sports medicine pediatricians, sports physical therapists, athletic trainers, and sports orthopedic surgeons. Residents will feel more comfortable in obtaining histories related to sports medicine related issues and have the opportunity to practice and receive guidance on musculoskeletal examinations. Residents will expand their knowledge and feel more comfortable with management and return to play recommendations of common pediatrics sports medicine injuries and issues, including overuse and acute injuries, fracture care, concussions, and medical issues related to sports and physical activity participation. Please note that our Sports Medicine/Ortho providers practice mostly at our regional sites (Bellevue, South Clinic, or North Clinic) so main campus assignments are minimal. Residents without a vehicle would need to consider alternate forms of transportation for clinics .
