Position Available with the City of Redmond

Looking for a position with the City of Redmond? They are currently looking for a Transportation Planning and Engineering Intern: 

This Transportation Planning and Engineering Division intern will assist City of Redmond staff to plan and deliver multimodal transportation projects and programs in this growing community and regional jobs center. Major projects underway include the Overlake Village transit-oriented development, the arrival of East Link light rail, and the development of Downtown into a mixed use urban center. The intern will collect data on transportation facilities and conditions and enter them into databases, interpret data to create maps and reports, conduct research on transportation policy and related issues, and support departmental planning efforts.

Hours, Duration, and Pay Rate: 

  • This position will work up to 29 hours per week, as needed, and depending on qualifications and availability. Position is limited to 1040 hours per calendar year.
  • $11.35 – $19.75 Hourly

Qualifications: 

  • Must be a recent graduate or currently working toward a degree or certification in urban planning, engineering or a closely related field.
  • Maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality control; demonstrating an interest and willingness to learn independently; use of computer software including Outlook, Word, Excel/Access and ArcGIS; data entry and analysis skills.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license by date of hire, and a driving record that meets City standards
  • Collect, record, and maintain data; generate maps and conduct analyses in ArcGIS; prepare written reports; work independently and cooperatively with others; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers. The ability to generate graphical products including presentations, renderings, and diagrams is a plus.
