REU Program Now Accepting Applications!

Now accepting applications for Summer 2016 NSF funded Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program offered by the Center for the Environmental Implications of NanoTechnology (CEINT) headquartered at Duke University!

The research focus of our summer REU program is organized across a comprehensive effort to examine the environmental implications of nanotechnology with a focus on exposure, transport, fate, and transformation of nano-particles in the environment; elucidating the effects of nano-particles in complex, real-world environments; and translating our research into the language of risk assessment to inform decision-making.

To be eligible students must be US citizens or permanent work residents and freshmen, sophomores or juniors in good standing in their respective departments. Our 10-week internship offers a $5,000 stipend and also covers housing and travel to research sites. Applications are due February 28, 2016.

UCA of SME Scholarships

The Underground Construction Association (UCA) of the Society of Mining, Metallurgy, and Exploration (SME) Scholarship covers tuition and some other expenses including attendance of the WTC 2016 conference next year in San Fransisco. The UCA of SME only gives out a couple of these scholarships per year, but they haven’t received many applications so far, so apply now! Applications are due on December 8th, 2015. 

The UCA Young Members WTC 2016 Conference Attendance Scholarship is a separate scholarship that covers the costs for students to attend WTC 2016 in San Fransisco. They want to give out as many of these as possible to encourage students to attend this conference. Apply now by clicking here! Applications are due on February 1st, 2016.

JCM Northlink Needs 3 Interns for January

SOM Foundation Travel Fellowship

The Skidmore, Owings 7 Merrill (SOM) Foundation is pleased to announce the opening of nominations for the 2016 Structural Engineering Traveling Fellowship. This $20,000 award for independent travel and study is open to both undergraduates and graduate students who will receive a degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) July 1st 2015 through June 30th 2016. The Foundation’s goal is to instill in its fellows a heightened sense of the importance of aesthetics in structural design by offering them an opportunity to study buildings and bridges throughout the world.

Educational Foundation LogoThe American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association (AREMA) Educational Foundation is pleased to announce the availability of many Scholarships for the 2016-2017 academic year. This application form applies to all Scholarships offered by the AREMA Educational Foundation. By completion of this form, the Scholarship Review Committee will determine which Scholarship(s) the candidate qualifies for. Awards range from $1000 to $2500

Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled as a student in a Graduate or Undergraduate program leading to a degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology in an accredited curriculum. The applicant must have at least a 2.00 GPA. You do not need to be specifically interested in railroads (see details below or on website) to apply.

Mark your calendars: the Women in Science & Engineering (WiSE) Conference  is celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary!

The WiSE Conference is a day devoted to celebrate women in engineering academics and careers. The day-long event offers educational and professional enrichment, bringing pre-college, undergraduate, and graduate students together with faculty, administrators, and professional women.
