Bryant Elementary School is currently recruiting Science Fair Mentors for their winter quarter 2016 program and they still need Monday mentors! They are happy to welcome undergraduate majors and graduate students to their program.

Description: Share your enthusiasm for science by serving as a Science Fair Mentor for students at Bryant Elementary School. As a Scientist Mentor, you will develop and lead a project related to your field of expertise. Once a week, you will meet with your small group of 4th or 5th graders to work on your science project and guide students in the most important parts of the scientific process: formulating a question or hypothesis, developing appropriate experiments with controlled, manipulated and measured variables, analyzing results, and drawing/communicating conclusions. This is your opportunity to share your learning and experience, be a team leader and inspire future scientists!

Prototype Funding Application Due Soon

The following announcement applies to those who are wanting to participate in the Alaska Airlines Environmental Innovation Challenge: 

Student teams that are competing in the Alaska Airlines Environmental Innovation Challenge are invited to apply for funding to build prototypes for the challenge. These funds can be used to purchase materials, rent equipment, or hire short-term workers with skills beyond the team’s capacity.

Application for Funding is due Sunday, Dec. 20th at Midnight. 

Other Due Dates:

  • Prototype Application Notification by January 6th
  • Team Registration, January 22nd to February 1. Open your online account with basic team information
  • EIC OFFICIAL ENTRY February 21st, your 5-7 page business summary is due. Top 21 Teams will be selected to present at the Alaska Airlines Environmental Innovation Challenge which is held on March 31st, 2016
