Summer 2016 Internships with SOM

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) is pleased to announce that the application process for their 2016 Summer Internship Program is now open.

SOM is seeking the best emerging talent to join them this summer in their Chicago, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Washington DC and London offices.

Selected candidates will get hands-on project experience in architecture, interiors, structural engineering, sustainable engineering and urban design.

Washington State Opportunity Scholarship- Application Due Soon!

Quick reminder that the online application for the 2016-2017 Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) deadline is approaching soon!

There are only six weeks left for students to apply.

WSOS will select nearly 1450 new students this year to receive up to five years of renewable funding, professional development support and industry exploration opportunities. Please encouraging any eligible students you know to apply!

A few details:

The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) supports low- and middle-income students pursuing eligible high-demand majors in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) or health care and encourages recipients to work in Washington state once they complete their degrees. Students must meet additional eligibility criteria.

  • Annual award amount: $2,500 – $7,500 depending on class standing
  • Renewable for up to five years based on credits completed and continued eligibility
  • Selected students receive access to workshops, events and additional support during their time in college.

The application for 2016-17 must be submitted online by February 29, 2016, and students’ transcripts must be postmarked by March 7, 2016.

Volunteer at the PSCE Engineering Fair on Feb 6!

The annual Engineering Fair at the Boeing Museum of Flight is on February 6th! This event is hosted by Puget Sound Engineering Council (PSEC) during Engineers Week to educate kids about civil engineering and science principles.

ASCE has a booth with interactive activities for kids where they get to build gum drop structures, paper bridges and straw rockets. This is a fun, educational and activity packed event that is well attended.

Volunteers are needed to help facilitate the ASCE booth for three shifts 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM, 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM and 2:00 to 4:30 PM. The first and last half hours will be for setting up and cleaning up.
