The Washington State Department of Transportation’s Traffic Management Center (TMC) in Shoreline is seeking freshman, sophomores, and early admits to the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department to join their current team of TMC Operators. We are not seeking juniors at this time unless they have plans to attend graduate school at the UW in transportation. Pay starts at $16.00 per hour. Three to four positions are being filled now for the Spring quarter, beginning as soon as April 1st, but no later than April 8th, 2016.

This position requires a minimum of 15 hours per week during the school year and 1000 hours total for each year. 1000 hours is easily reached if an intern works 15 hours a week during the school year and full-time during the summer. Internship Opportunity in Nicaragua

Amigos for Christ, a nonprofit community development organization in Northern Nicaragua, is currently looking for a structural engineer (or advanced structural engineering student – licencing not required) with experience or training specifcally designing concrete block wall structures, footings, and columns. Projects will also require taking into consideration seismic issues of the area and loads from roof structures, as well as planning rebar sizes and placement in wall and footings.

Ideally, the internship would last for 3 months (May 18-August13), however dates are flexible. You would be working under supervision of of Infrastructure Team, and would require willingness to do extensive work in field as well as planning. Knowledge of Spanish is preferred but not required.
