UW ACI Recruitment

Howdy Civil Engineers,

My name is Vania Moreno-Colin, and I am a senior in civil engineering and the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Student Chapter President. UW ACI is a team of civil engineering and construction management students representing the University of Washington in biannual student concrete competitions. UW ACI connects students to construction and engineering professionals, including structural engineers, architects, contractors, and materials specialists. Our mission is to propel our members into the industry through networking, education, site visits and tours, and student competitions.

Our primary focus is on student competitions, where our team tackles a new concrete design challenge twice a year. Competitions require extensive research and out-of-the-box thinking to meet the competition’s demands. Competitions are held in the Autumn  and Spring quarters but preparations are done well in advance! We compete in the ACI student concrete competitions at the ACI National Conventions. This quarter, we wrapped up our mix design and testing for the Pervious Concrete Cylinder Competition in Philadelphia. The following  competition will be held in Toronto, Canada; the goal will be to design and construct a fiber reinforced bowling ball.

The UW ACI Chapter is looking for civil engineers, construction managers, architects, and anyone interested in working with concrete to apply.
