AEE UW Student Chapter: Looking for Students

Dear CEE Students,

Interested in applying your skills to an energy efficient and sustainability club on campus? My name is Max Stafford, and I am creating a club for the Association of Energy Engineers Chapter at UW. I am looking for multiple students to participate in leadership and membership positions to get this chapter rolling. You can read up on additional benefits at this link. There is no experience required to participate in the following roles:

  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Public Relations Lead
  • Student Training Lead
  • Projects Lead

For leadership roles and for members interested in making a difference, there is a minimum 10 hr/week requirement.

If you are interested in any of these roles, please join the Sensors, Energy Automation Laboratory at this link. Message Max Stafford over Slack (once you join) saying which role you are interested in being in.

What is the Association of Energy Engineers?

The Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Student Chapter is a dedicated group for students interested in advancing energy efficiency, sustainable development, and renewable energy technologies. The chapter provides a platform for members to network with professionals in the energy industry, gain hands-on experience, and develop skills in energy management and engineering. Through workshops, guest lectures, site tours, and student-led projects, AEE Student Chapter members deepen their understanding of energy systems and practices. The chapter encourages innovation and leadership in sustainable energy solutions, empowering students to contribute to real-world energy challenges and prepare for careers in the dynamic field of energy engineering.

HDR – Job Opportunity for Environmental Inspector Intern

REMINDER: CONSTRUCTION SCHOLARSHIPS: Beavers and Clark Construction Group Scholarships announcement – applications due November 8th

Hi all,

I just want to remind everyone – there are 4 days left to apply for these 4 scholarships. If you had an internship with a construction company last summer please apply.

A nice $2500 or $5000 before Thanksgiving would feel REALLY good. These construction companies want to help YOU.

Hope the first few weeks of class are going well for you! I am writing to let everyone know that there is a great scholarship opportunity for students interested in and involved with construction engineering. There are scholarships from the Beavers Charitable Trust and the Clark Construction Group available for award. The awards will be TWO $5,000 cash scholarships from the Beavers and TWO $2,500 cash scholarships from Clark. Awards will be given in November. Here are the application particulars:

REQUIREMENTS

  • The applicant must have completed an internship (or have an ongoing one) with a construction company. This is the big requirement – it does limit the applicant pool quite a bit. I am aware of a number of students who meet this requirement (e.g., Clark, Flatiron, Granite, Stacy and Witbeck, Kiewit, Skanska, Walsh, Sellen, Mortenson, and more). If you have had a construction company internship, we will find you and get you to enter…so do it voluntarily first. 😉
  • The applicant must be in good academic standing. This means not on academic probation and no history of academic misconduct.
  • The applicant must fill out an application (shocking) here: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/8067529/2024-Beavers-Charitable-Trust-and-Clark-Construction-Group-Scholarships. This application involves you writing 1 page on your intern experience. So, it takes a bit of time to complete.

DUE DATE: FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH, 11:59 P.M.

APPLY HERE: https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/8067529/2024-Beavers-Charitable-Trust-and-Clark-Construction-Group-Scholarships Continue reading

Beavers Scholarships

Attention Undergraduates:

This announcement for scholarships just came out. These are IN ADDITION to the other construction scholarships I recently announced.

These scholarships pay out at $10,000 each and last year our students won two of them.

So, if you meet these criteria you should apply:

  1. You are a sophomore or junior this year.
  2. You want to work in heavy civil construction (building infrastructure…pretty much everything EXCEPT buildings).
  3. You have done OR ARE SCHEDULED TO DO an internship in the heavy civil construction industry. Check the companies that are in that industry here.

If you are at all not sure, ask Julian Yamaura or Steve Muench. We will help you out. These scholarships come directly from The Beavers and we want you to get one.
