Opportunity for Graduates: MEng in Integrated Wood Design at UNBC

Hello,

I am reaching out to share an exciting graduate opportunity that may be of interest to  students as they approach the completion of their studies in Civil Engineering. The University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC) offers a unique Master of Engineering (MEng) in Integrated Wood Design, which provides an in-depth, practice-oriented education in sustainable building solutions using wood—a growing field with significant environmental benefits.

Our MEng program is designed to address the critical need for innovative and sustainable building materials in engineering, making it an ideal fit for students interested in pioneering environmentally friendly practices. The program focuses on the design, construction, and operation of wood-based structures, providing students with hands-on experience through project-based learning and close industry collaboration.

A few highlights of our program:

  • Industry-Relevant Skills: Students gain technical expertise in integrated wood design and the latest sustainable practices in the field.
  • Hands-On Learning: The program includes practical learning through real-world projects and partnerships with industry leaders, equipping graduates with highly marketable skills.
  • Sustainable Focus: The curriculum supports the use of wood as a renewable resource, aligning with both environmental goals and modern engineering demands.
  • Beautiful Northern BC: UNBC’s location offers a unique learning environment, surrounded by the landscapes that underscore the importance of sustainable construction.

CEE Climate Survey

Dear CEE Community,

Hopefully the end of the quarter is going well for you.

Attached you will find the summary report for the 2024 CEE Climate Survey. This report presents results and findings from the survey that many of you completed in Winter 2024. The objective of the survey was to measure progress and prioritize areas for improvement to create a welcoming and supportive environment in CEE. We had high participation – approximately half of the department completed the survey – which provided valuable information about the departmental climate. The main findings and proposed actions are summarized in a short executive summary at the beginning and I encourage everyone to take a look at that, even if you don’t read the whole report!

We are interested to hear your feedback on the survey findings. If you have thoughts about the results or suggestions for future analyses, please use this survey link to let us know. The survey is anonymous and will not record your email, though you may need to login via your UW email.

Finally, we will be repeating the survey this coming winter to gauge how the CEE climate changes over time. Thanks in advance for your participation.
