CEE Seniors – Apply to Graduate!

Hello CEE Seniors,

If you plan to complete your BSCE or BSENVE degree in Autumn 2023, Winter 2024, Spring 2024, or Summer 2024, it is time to apply to graduate! Here are the steps we need you to complete:

  1. Run a fresh degree audit (DARS) and carefully review your remaining requirements – make sure you account for each one. In your final quarter, your DARS must show that all requirements are either completed or in progress.
  2. Update your MyPlan so that it reflects your plan for completing your degree. If you’re unsure of the exact courses you’ll take, it’s okay to use placeholder classes as shown on the sample 4-year plan on the BSCE/BSENVE degree sheets. If you’ve taken courses outside of UW that you plan to use toward your degree, please be sure that your most recent official transcript has been sent to the UW Admissions Office.
  3. After reviewing your DARS and MyPlan, complete this google form and we will submit an online graduation application to the UW Registrar on your behalf. The form will provide a place for you to ask questions or point out any concerns you may have. CEE Graduation Application – This form is for current BSCE and BSENVE seniors who anticipate graduating between Autumn 2023 and Summer 2024 to initiate the graduation application process. Once you complete this form, we will submit the online graduation application on your behalf. If you have questions, please email ceadvice@uw.edu. This form will take about 10 minutes to complete and will ask you to update your MyPlan and run a Degree Audit.
  4. Completing this process in a timely manner ensures that you will obtain Graduating Senior Priority Registration for Winter Quarter (November 3, 2023) and Spring Quarter (February 9, 2024). The deadline to complete the google form is Friday, October 13th, but the earlier you can submit it, the better!

Connecting with your CEE Advisers & Communication Resources

Hello CEE Students,

Happy September from your advisers, Brian Kinnear (he/him) and Lauren Lanum (she/her)! We are excited to work with you this year and welcome everyone (back) to campus.

With summer coming to a close in just a few short weeks, we wanted to put a few things on your radar for this year about how to connect with us and make sure you aren’t missing anything.

Ways to Connect with your Advisers

  1. Attend CEE Drop-In Advising (T/W 11-12pm. Starting Wed, 9/27): Drop-in advising details can be found on the CEE Advising Calendar.
  2. Schedule a 30-minute, One-on-One Advising Appointment:
    • You can find our advising calendars on the CEE Advising Page, as well as linked in our email signature below.
    • If you need to meet and are not free during any of our available appointment times, please send us an email at ceadvice@uw.edu with your weekly availability, and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
    • All appointment types are available either in-person or via Zoom. In-person appointments take place in More Hall 201. If you schedule a Zoom appointment, a link will be provided to you after you book the appointment.
  3. Email Questions to your Advising Team at ceadvice@uw.edu Many of your questions can be answered through email. When emailing, please make sure to include your full name and your UW student ID number. We do ask that you still use email (ceadvice@uw.edu) to communicate with us about individual questions, rather than sending canvas messages

***CEE doesn’t have “assigned” advisers, so both civil and environmental engineering students may meet with either Brian or Lauren at any time, depending on availability and preference.  Continue reading

Changes to 2023-2024 CEE Course Schedule

This email is to notify you that CEE 435: Project Scheduling and CEE 408: Sustainable Roadway Design and Construction, both originally scheduled for Winter 2024, will unfortunately no longer be offered this academic year.

Julian Yamaura, the instructor for CEE 435, shared that he will teach some of the Project Scheduling curriculum in CEE 434: Project Estimating in Winter 2024 in order to still provide some exposure to the material. Continue reading
