NCEES Engineering Honors Program

Dear Students,

The National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) has launched an honors program to recognize students who have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam by providing them with a free graduation cord and charm to wear over their gown during graduation. NCEES, a Greenville, SC.-based nonprofit established in 1920, estimates that more than 10,000 students nationwide who are scheduled to graduate in May have already passed the six-hour exam. The FE exam material ties closely to subjects taught in their undergraduate engineering program. Typically, students take the FE exam as close to graduation as possible. Passing the FE exam is the first step to becoming a professionally licensed engineer, which also requires work experience and passing another exam.

ATTN: CEE Seniors – Apply to Graduate Now!

Hi CEE Seniors,

If you plan to complete your degree between AUT22 and SUM23, remember to apply to graduate if you haven’t already done so! Additionally, if you have friends who are seniors in our department, remind them to complete this process too. Instructions below:

  1. Run a fresh degree audit (DARS) and carefully review your remaining requirements. Make sure your course plan includes all of them. In your final quarter, your degree audit needs to show that all requirements are either completed or in-progress.
  2. Update your MyPlan so that it reflects your course plan through your intended graduation quarter. If you’re unsure of the specific courses you’ll take, you may use placeholders. Ex: “Technical elective” or “5 credit VLPA course”.
  3. Once you’ve run a fresh audit and updated your MyPlan, complete this google form [forms.gle] and we’ll submit your graduation application to the UW Registrar. This form also allows you to explain any irregularities in your plan and ask any questions you may have. After submitting the form, you can expect to receive a confirmation email from us (no action required) and a confirmation email from the UW Registrar. The email from the registrar will have action items for you, so please watch for it and complete the steps as soon as possible once you receive it.
