Internship and Job Opportunities

Hello,

I’m a former 2020 grad of the civil engineering program at UW. I’d like to pass along internship and new graduate job opportunities my company is offering in their Federal Way, and Vancouver Washington locations. You can find the link to our career page below.  All are welcome to apply regardless of concentration and I’d encourage anyone to apply for the internship regardless of class standing.

Mackay Sposito is primarily involved in land development, public works, and energy projects. Examples of our work are the Tehaleh master planned community in Bonney Lake, and the Main Street Promise in Vancouver. You can expect to be trained on the use of Civil3D for designing and drafting plans, stormwater modeling, report writing, and collaborating with other engineering firms.

PCC UCo Internship Search Party Event

Students,

Looking for internships? The PCC Undergraduate Cohort (UCo) will be hosting an internship search party on Thursday, November 21st at 6pm in Savery 132. The event will kick off with summer internship information, resources for finding internships, and application tips. The session will then turn into a search party to give students dedicated time to find and bookmark internships they are interested in. Our goal is to help summer internships feel more approachable and get a head start on applying.

This event is the first of our Undergraduate Involvement series where we will help undergraduates on preparing for summer internships, provide application workshops, and provide on campus resources and opportunities in climate science with this event focusing on getting ahead of the applications cycle.

Snacks and an excel sheet organizer will be provided!

REMINDER: Construction Career Fair on Tuesday, 10/29

Hi all,

I want to remind everyone that the Construction Career Fair (hosted by Construction Management) is coming up next week. Please go!

What: 2024 CM Career EXPO (CEE students are ALWAYS welcome to go and we do…in large numbers)

When: Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Where: HUB Ballroom (same place as CEE career fair)

Why go: there are LOTS of jobs and internships available here and they LOVE folks from our department

If you are at all interested in Construction as either a career or even just for an internship you MUST go to this career fair. There will be 103 companies there. That’s right, 103! Every construction company that does business here and some that do not will be at this career fair looking for new hires and/or internships. In years where our students commit to going to this career fair, they see as many, if not more, CEE students than CM students there. Let’s make that happen this year. If you went to the CEE career fair, go to this one too.

PERSPECTIVE

Let me offer some internship/job perspective: The construction sector (contractors, consultants that do construction management/inspection, and owners that hire folks to manage construction efforts) employs our graduates more than any other. By far. The following table shows the fraction of internships and jobs supplied by the construction industry to our students based on our end-of-year surveys. Even if you like structures right now, a construction internship with a heavy civil firm would be super-beneficial to you. Continue reading
