Summer 2018 Paid Geotechnical Internship

GeoResources is a small geotechnical engineering firm located in Fife, Washington with projects located throughout the Puget Sound region. We are currently seeking summer interns. Specific job requirement may include:

  • Geotechnical construction monitoring including field bearing verification, in-situ density testing for mass grading and trench backfill, pile installation, retaining wall construction and drainage installation verification
  • In-situ infiltration testing using both the EPA falling head test method and Pilot Infiltration test method, as required by local jurisdictions
  • Geotechnical laboratory analyses, such as gradation analysis, modified Proctors, Atterberg limits, and hydrometer testing
  • Site characterization and field work, including soil sample collection, logging subsurface conditions, and site reconnaissance
  • Preparing daily field reports and assisting in the preparation of engineering reports and critical area assessments
  • Communication with clients, contractors, and local jurisdictions

This opportunity is available for the candidate who is working towards completion of their BSCE and has completed an introductory soils mechanics course. AutoCAD experience is a plus. Field work will require reimbursed travel to and from project sites. This position is considered a full time, hourly position. Nucor Summer Intern Posting

Nucor has a posting on HuskyJobs for a summer internship in Seattle. The intern will work with the environmental department, in a heavy industrial setting on variety of projects from regulatory review to process improvement design to contractor management.  This is a great opportunity for chemical, mechanical, or environmental engineering students (especially those finishing their sophomore or junior years) who are drawn to physical systems and process and are looking for careers outside of the research/office atmosphere.

Century Link Field – Internship Opportunity

We have a great opportunity for a CM, Engineering, or Architecture major to learn about the process of renovating an existing NFL Stadium at CenturyLink Field. Credits are available through the Seahawks organization for this internship.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist Director of Project Development and Project Manager with various tasks including working with architects and design consultants to create an As-Built document of CenturyLink Field, Home of the Seattle Seahawks. This position will have elementary drafting assignments and including updating construction documents from contractors and other design consultants to closely represent the current condition of the NFL Stadium and Event Center.  Works under close supervision but must also be self motivated; this position receives specific and detailed instruction as to required tasks and results expected.
Project objectives are to update CAD drawings with existing conditions to include electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire sprinkler & alarm, civil and architectural drawing sets. Other duties may include scanning redline drawings, create electronic file cabinets, update Operation & Maintenance Manuals. There may be an opportunity to start creating a 3D Model of the stadium and event center.
