Week 8 Student Networking

A message from the advising team:

We wanted to send out a message notifying you of an opportunity in Week 8 to network more with your peers in the department. If you recall from the fall quarter, we organized the Flipgrid activity and appreciated your participation in that! Thank you to all the students who submitted a video. We enjoyed meeting you that way and hope you had fun learning about your classmates.

For those of you who didn’t make a video but would still like to participate, please feel free! We’ve attached the instructions to the end of this email.

For this winter quarter, the advising staff, with the help of some graduate students, are facilitating another networking opportunity, but this time “in-person” (a.k.a. on Zoom). This event will give you the chance to talk more about your Flipgrid videos with a small group of your classmates, as well as more generally to get to know each other better (learn who’s in your concentration, form study groups, etc.).

We’ve created three sessions to try to accommodate as many students’ schedules as possible; each time slot represents the same one-hour event. The dates and times are listed below.

If you’re interested in attending one of these times, please RSVP by Sunday, February 21st using this form. Please let us know of any questions.

CEE Career Fair: Prep Checklist for Your Group and 1:1 Sessions

A message from the advising team:

We wanted to provide you with a checklist to help you prepare to get the most out of the CEE Career Fair today:

  1. Set your Handshake profile to “Community” (as this will be where they can obtain contact information for any follow-up)
  2. Mark your latest resume (under “Documents”) to “Visible” (as this will be how recruiters can get a copy)
  3. If possible, Tech-test multiple devices for connectivity (additional documentation on common issues can be found here)
  4. Verify that you know where to access your fair schedule in Handshake, as that will have the links to connect to sessions. (from your Handshake home screen, simply navigate to “Events” then click on the fair to find “Your schedule” (sessions already registered for) & “Schedule sessions” (see what’s available for sign-up & open on your schedule)
  5. Continue to peruse available sessions during the fair (as students will be able to sign-up for sessions real-time during the fair itself … if it’s 2:13pm and Company X has an open session at 2:20pm, a student can “register” for it immediately)

CEE Career Fair Update: Even More Companies

CEE Career Fair Updates:

  • Blueline and Transpo Group will now be in attendance tomorrow and have set up some appointments in Handshake.
  • Davido Consulting and Terracon have also signed up and should be adding sessions throughout the day so make sure to check back regularly.
