Since this is a virtual event, you will need to register and schedule your sessions AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to ensure proper communication with the employers. Some employers may start removing their available sessions on Wed/Thurs so don’t delay!

(Register Now!)

Resources to help you prepare for the Career Fair, as well as the updated list of registered companies can be found in the attachments from the CEE email with the same name.

CEE Ugrad Weekly: Register for the CEE Career Fair Today!

Your weekly message from the advising team:

Today’s email is 100% dedicated to the 15th Annual CEE Career Fair taking place on Th, Jan 28th from 1-4pm virtually on the Handshake platform (Register Now!).

There are currently 42 companies registered with group and 1-on-1 sessions available. Check your email for the same title as this to be able to access a PDF of all the registered employers. Additional sessions and possibly additional employers will be added between now and next Thursday so we recommend checking back in to see what is available throughout the week.

Regardless of your class standing, we recommend that you register for the Career Fair, research companies you may be interested in and sign up for their sessions (group or 1:1).

Even if you are not actively looking for a job or internship, gaining experience talking with employers and learning about those hiring CEE students will be valuable as you move through the program and begin looking for opportunities.

Preparation for the Career Fair

  • CC@E Prep Workshop: Gail and Michael from The Career Center @ Engineering hosted a Career Fair Prep Workshop earlier this week for CEE Majors.

You can find the zoom recording of this session here.Check your email for the same title as this to be able to access a PDF version of the slides, as well as a copy of our basic cover letter & resume template (look for “Violet Gold”).

The CC@E also provides a full suite of services, from resume feedback to professional development, so we recommend connecting with them for all of your career questions and preparation.

  • UW Career and Internship Center: From resume workshops to interview best practices, UWC&IC  has a number of workshops leading up to the Career Fair to help you prepare.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions and if you are looking to speak with a company that does not have sessions available on Handshake, let us know so we can reach out to them on your behalf.

2021 CEE Career Fair Registration is Open!

This email summarizes everything you need to know about the CEE Career Fair so make sure to read everything carefully and take action where needed.

The 15th Annual Civil & Environmental Engineering Career Fair will be held on Thursday, January 28th from 1-4pm.

Using technology inside the Handshake platform, students & alumni will have the opportunity to connect virtually with 37+ companies. We encourage students to familiarize themselves with how to prepare for the virtual fair using the links on our virtual career fair resources page.

  • CAREER FAIR TECHNOLOGY: The career fair will be held completely INSIDE Handshake with live audio & video; please be sure to test your browser prior to the fair. Once you sign-up for a 10-minute one-on-one slot or a 30-minute group session, the employer will have access to your Handshake account, so be sure to upload your resume to your profile (as that will replicate the in-person resume exchange).
  • HANDSHAKE PROFILE UPDATES: Please be sure that your Handshake profile is “Community” ~AND~ update your profile information, particularly degree, major, and graduation date (as many employers have preference filters in order to sign-up for their slots). It is possible that slots are full, but some employers also have not added their complete interview schedules, so check back frequently (you will be able to sign-up for sessions real-time throughout the fair).
  • CAREER FAIR PREPARATION:
    • UW Career and Internship Center: From resume workshops to interview best practices UWC&IC  has a number of workshops leading up to the Career Fair to help you prepare.
