Scholarships available for students interested in construction

All,

I share with you two scholarship programs available to CEE students who are seriously considering working in the heavy civil construction industry. Heavy civil construction means building infrastructure other than buildings. Many heavy civil companies regularly hire from our department. This is a good starter list to get an idea of who they are and what they do. These scholarship programs are:

Beavers Charitable Trust National Scholarship (awarding 20 scholarships of $10,000 each nationally)

The Beavers Charitable Trust, the heavy civil construction organization that sponsors Steve Muench’s and Julian Yamaura’s professorships, wants to award twenty $10,000 scholarships to students across their university network (the work with about 20 universities). This organization is intent on helping students who intend on working in their industry. You will see their eligibility requirements reflect this.

Women in Heavy Civil National Scholarship (awarding 3 scholarships of $10,000 each nationally)

Same organization, same general motivation, but this one is specifically for women (if you are a woman, you SHOULD apply for both scholarships, the work is nearly identical). The Beavers will award three scholarships of $10,000.

Good information to know about these scholarships Continue reading
