The focus on college student drinking and intervention efforts for 4-year institutions has been a major priority; however, little is known about effective interventions for young adults attending community colleges. While community college students drink less often than their counterparts in 4-year colleges, they experience an equivalent amount of negative consequences. Although efficacy of alcohol interventions (primarily in-person) has been established for students in 4-year schools, notable differences between 4-year and community college students raise practical concerns for intervention development and implementation Thus, it is critical to develop an intervention that meets the various needs and demanding lifestyles of community college students, and can maximize the impact of student interactions. We propose to develop a user-friendly and convenient intervention that addresses relevant social norms, the impact of high-risk alcohol use on health and well-being in relevant life domains beyond student life and academic achievement, and provides ongoing exposure to behavior change strategies.
