SEAW Scholarship Opportunities

Greetings!

We are reaching out on behalf of the Structural Engineers Association of Washington Southwest (SEAW SW) Chapter.

Each year, the SEAW SW Chapter offers $2,000 scholarships to current college or university students studying Structural Engineering.

Applicants home address or college address must be within the Southwest region of Washington State, specifically, Pierce, Thurston, and South King Counties.

Applications are accepted until February 28th, and scholarship winners will be announced in April.

Udall Undergraduate Scholarship

Students,

**The Udall Scholarship is a $7,000 scholarship for sophomores and juniors who are committed to making a difference in either the environment or Native American/Alaska Native Tribal Policy or Native Healthcare. US citizenship or permanent residency required. Four nominations are available for students committed to environmental careers and four for students interested in Tribal Policy/Native Healthcare.

ACEC ProNet Engineering Scholarship

Hello,

An alumnus of our department forwarded me this scholarship opportunity and I wanted to forward it on to you. He serves on the section committee, which just means he knows about the scholarship. That said, I would love to have it go to a UW CEE student.

This scholarship is for those in their junior or senior year as well as graduate students. The award is $5,000.

Skanska – UW Scholarship

Hi Juniors,

Skanska is offering a sweet deal for those JUNIORS seeking an internship this coming summer. They are offering a scholarship ($3,000) AND an associated internship with them for the Summer of 2025. This is a great deal to get some money and an internship with a great company.

More about Skanska: Skanska is a Swedish company with a Skanska USA subsidiary. They build lots of buildings and infrastructure and are very much into sustainability. Although they are not entirely contractors, this internship and those offering it out of their Seattle office are contractors. Apply using the link below:

HDR $10k Scholarship and Paid Internship – 2025

All,

Looks like our friends at HDR are offering a couple of VERY GOOD scholarships ($10,000 each) to students with demonstrated interests in transportation who will be graduating this year (i.e., seniors). If you are interested, please take a look at their flier attached here.

I do not have any additional information on this scholarship, so address any questions to the e-mail listed on the flyer.


HDR established a scholarship program in 2019 that focuses on graduate level students (or graduating undergraduates going to graduate school) interested in water engineering related fields. The scholarship program includes (2) $10,000 scholarships and paid internships.

A few guidelines are:

  • Graduate student, or undergraduate degree by spring 2025 and planning on attending graduate school
  • Willing to accept an HDR internship
  • Applications are due December 2, 2024

**The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program offers scholarships of up to $5,000 to Pell Grant recipients participating in credit-bearing study abroad programs. Undergraduates conducting STEM-research abroad can receive up to $1000 more, and students studying critical need languages may receive up to $3,000 more.

Scholarships from the American Public Works Association (APWA)

Hello,

If you will still be an undergraduate in Fall 2024:

The APWA is offering the Jack Pittis Memorial Scholarship (both a winner and a runner-up). These are $10k and $5k each. Applications are due June 17th.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Undergraduate.
  • Going to be a JR or SR in Fall 2024.
  • Full-time student for AY 2024-25.

DBIA Scholarship opportunity – Deadline May 16, 2024

DBIA Northwest is pleased to announce the availability of a student scholarship for the 2024/25 school year. We are looking for students in good academic standing who have displayed a commitment to learning and applying design-build best practices in their education. 2024 APWA Scholarships open ($10,000 and $5,000)

Students,

On behalf of the Washington Chapter of the American Public Works Association (APWA), we’d like to get the word out regarding our 2024 scholarships! We had two winners from the UW CEE program last year. 

Attached is our 2024 scholarship application. This $10,000 and $5,000 scholarship will be presented to a student who is interested in a career in public works and is both a current resident of Washington State full-time standing as of Fall 2024. The scholarship applications are due June 17, 2024.
