Update Lab Schedule- CEE 367 in Spring 2024

Hello all,

We wanted to inform you of a recent update regarding the scheduling CEE367 Geotechnical Engineering for the upcoming Spring 2024.

We have adjusted the timing for one of the lab sessions for CEE367. The new lab schedule will be T 130-320 and W 1030-1220. We believe this modification will allow you to enroll in CEE367 without overlapping with other required courses.

If you have any questions regarding this time change or any other matter related to your academic schedule, please feel free to reach out to us.

Thank you!

Recruiting a Hydroclimatology Postdoc

Hi all,

This snow hydrology focused postdoc opportunity may be of interest to you:

Recent 3 publications:

  1. Drought Early Warning and Forecasting: Theory and Practice
  2. Unprecedented Pre-COVID-19 Acute Food Insecurity in Sub-Saharan Africa
  3. Improving early warning of drought-driven food insecurity in southern Africa using operational hydrological monitoring and forecasting products.

The job will be initially funded by an Army Corps project focused on understanding the snow-soil interface to improve vehicle mobility (odds of getting stuck) in adverse conditions. One group at DRI is focusing on the modeling of the snow and soil columns while my group is focused on developing snow and soil climatologies and probabilistic information using reanalysis and LSM outputs to inform decision support. Ideally, the candidate would also be a good fit to potentially stay at DRI and the WRCC after the postdoc. Listing is here: https://nshe.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/DRI-External/details/Postdoctoral-Researcher–Snow-Hydrology_R0138914

Environmental Organizing Fellowship Opportunity for University of Washington Students

Students,

Green Corps Organizer Program – The Field School for Environmental Organizing

Green Corps is looking for college graduates who are ready to take on the biggest environmental challenges of our day.

Learn more and apply on our website!

The planet needs all the help it can get. To win now and build a strong foundation for lasting progress, we need people who know how to organize: to run organizations and campaigns that will inspire the support and action we need to save our environment. Our program starts with intensive classroom training. You learn about issues and campaigns, organizing theory and principles, and skills from recruiting volunteers to staging a media event. Then, you move to a more hands-on experience. You make a difference on important campaigns to transition our country to clean energy, protect wildlife, and more. For example, Lauren Karpinski, an organizer from the Green Corps Class of 2019, brought together a coalition of 40 groups that helped win a landmark solar energy bill in Arkansas.

We’re accepting the top 20 candidates for our 2024-2025 program. Graduates will join our more than 400 alumni who are leading environmental campaigns and organizations across the country. If you’re passionate about the environment and ready to learn and practice the craft of organizing after graduation, apply today!

Not a graduating senior? Add your name to our list to receive updates about Green Corps including summer internships and jobs in the environmental and broader social change field! Continue reading
