Pressbooks Accounts and Starting a New Book

Create Your Pressbook Account

Pressbooks authors will need a user account. To sign up for a Pressbooks account, navigate to the UW Libraries Pressbooks website, and then select “Create an Account” from the “Get Started” section of the page. This will take you to a registration form. Complete this form and click Submit. You will receive an email with login information after the form has been processed.

After creating an account, sign into the Pressbooks platform with your UW Net ID at https://uw.pressbooks.pub/. You’ll need to sign in to begin a new book or edit an existing book.

Start a Book

To start your first Pressbook, after signing in, click “My Books” near the top of the page at https://uw.pressbooks.pub/. This will take you to “My Catalog”. At the top of the “My Catalog” page, click “My Books” and then “New Book”.

Creating a Pressbook is similar to using WordPress, but there are tools that are specific to Pressbooks. Training provided by UW Libraries for Pressbooks authors is highly recommended. To find training dates, see the Campus Calendar at https://www.washington.edu/calendar/.
